The building of the railways was one of the largest engineering projects ever undertaken. the men who built the railways known as navvies were a hard working and hard drinking nomadic community with their own unique culture and traditions. In the navvy camp we show how the navvies traveled worked lived and celebrated in the golden age of steam.
